It is very difficult to compare two diverse career options. Both Designing and Software have equal success and failure stories. You must chose career based on your interests to excel.

If you want to be a software engineer than you have to either pursue engineering i e BE or btech .else you can go fo BCA+MCA. But i would recommend you to think about your pros and cons. Take time and choose the right path is it engineering or BCA+MCA.

While software engineer is a secured option, photography needs lot of skills to get established and you need to have some unique style of yours to get noticed in the market. Get some psychometric assessment done to know what matches best with your personality and abilities.

You can move towards pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering. Software developers or software engineers are the same thing. You should choose a good university having good placements and ranking from the industry. Some suggested universities -

You need to take Science stream in 11th class and choose pcm subject and after 12th with good grades than you can go for b.tech-software engg. programme as your career aim.
