Hi, Thapar University has excellent placements in all branches. As you ask specifically for EC/CS, the package is really good. On average a student gets around 5-6 lakh packages, highest is around 35 lakh. Both mass recruiters and product-based companies visit here.

The average package for students is around INR. 4 to INR. 5 Lacs. The highest salary can go up to INR. 12 Lacs. Yes, Amazon and Flipkart come here, but Microsoft does not come here.

M.Tech and MBA are two different fields, you first decide whether you want to go for technical background or business background. If you love studying your technical then go for M.Tech, otherwise MBA if your mind is towards business or even if money is a matter. For M.Tech, you have to clear GATE exam and for MBA you need to give CAT and comparatively CAT is easier than GATE, but as the trends are changing more people are tending towards CAT than GATE.
However, there are some colleges in India which give admission without appearing for GATE and CAT exams.
