Over two Lacs candidates register for the CSIR UGC NET exam every year. In June 2023, a total of 2,74,027 candidates had registered while 1,99,890 aspirants appeared for the exam. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research CSIR NET (also known as CSIR UGC NET is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency NTA to determine the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor in the universities and colleges of India.

CSIR UGC NET application fee is INR 1,150 for the General category, INR 600 for the OBC-NCL category and INR 325 for SC/ST and PwD category candidates. Candidates can pay their requisite fees on online mode through netbanking/credit card/debit card/UPI. After submitting the application fee, your application form will be provisionally accepted by the NTA. There is only one paper in the CSIR NET exam. However, the question paper is divided into three parts- Part A, Part B and Part C. The CSIR NET Question Paper will be divided into three sections- Part A, B and C. Part 'A' shall be common to all subjects. This part shall be a test containing a maximum of 20 questions of General Aptitude. The candidates shall be required to answer any 15 questions for two marks each. First and foremost, you need to understand that the vacancies are less in comparison to the number of candidates clearing UGC NET JRF every year. And more vacancies cannot be generated until or unless more institutions are constituted. Therefore, you will have to take it with a pinch of salt that clearing UGC NET JRF does not guarantee a job. It is not that you will sit idle after having a NET/JRF qualification or your hard work will go waste.
