Council of Scientific and Insutrial Redearch National Eligibility Test, commonly known as CSIR MET is a national level exam conducted in an online model. The ecam consists of three sections - Part A, B and C. Section/Part A comprises of generic question from all subjects. Section B and C is subject-specific. Part A evaluate  students' reasoning ability skills, research ability, comprehension skills etc. On the other hand, Part B and C questions are related to the subject selected by students.

The duration of the exam is 3 hours and CSIR is conducted for five subjects namely Earth, Atmospheric, Ocen and Planetary Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences. CSIR UGC NET exams are conducted for five papers - Earth Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences. The total marks students can obtain in CSIR UGC NET is 200. Students must note that there is a negative marking on the exam. The time duration of CSIR Net is 180 minutes.
