The first year at NIFT is the foundation year in which you spend around Rs 1,000 each month on stationary and other materials. In the second year you go to your respective departments (example: fashion design, accessory design, fashion communication) and the expenditure varies from course to course. In fashion designing, there's no limit to the expenditure on fabrics. The fabrics range from 100rs/meter to 2000rs/meter. So to give an estimate on the expenditure is actually not possible. It's completely upto the student and his taste.

Yes, you should, there is no harm in taking coaching before appearing for the entrance. The knowledge you will gain from the coaching will not only help you in the entrance exam but will also increase your basic knowledge and skills.

Hello Nayasa,
3.5 lakh for freshers in the fashion industry is an average to start with.
One or two from the entire batch can even get a package of 20+ to start with, if they are hired by few large format online retailers. It happened in 2016 NIFT campus placements.
For the others the package can go up to 10 - 15 lakh or even more with 5+ years of work experience. It all depends on how flexible you are and how smart you are in grabbing opportunities.
