The selection process for Bachelor of Design courses varies from one college to another. You might need to take a university-level entrance exam if you want to study B.Des courses at prestigious universities. After this, colleges announce the students who have been shortlisted in several rounds, which are followed by individual focus group discussions and interviews. However, this process may differ from one college to another. Given below are some common steps for the Bachelor of Design course selection process:Applications are reviewed and examined by the Admissions Committee (AdCom) of colleges.If admission is merit-based, colleges compile a list of applicants who are qualified for admission.If institutions administer or accept admission exam results, candidates are selected based on their academic standing and how they performed on the entrance exam.Certain colleges may conduct interviews followed by individual focus group discussions. To get admission to NID, you need to meet the following NID admission eligibility criteria: You must have a 10+2 or equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate of 60%. You must have appeared for the National Entrance Test (NET) or Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by NID.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) B.Des selection process includes an entrance exam followed by a merit-based admission process. The NIFT Admissions Test is an important step for candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) program. There is no fixed cut-off rank for the minimum NIFT exam score required for NIFT admission. The required rank depends on a variety of factors, including course, category, and the candidate's preferred campus. In general, the lower the rank, the greater the likelihood of admission to the desired programme and campus. However, a score of at least 100 out of 150 is often considered a safe bet to gain admission to NIFT's top-tier institutions. To be eligible for admission to the B.Des program, candidates must have passed a 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised institution and have taken physics and mathematics as subjects. The maximum age for admission must be less than 24 years as of August 1 of the year of admission. The NIFT cutoff for the B.Des programme will vary each year depending on the number of applicants, the difficulty of the exam, and the availability of seats. Cutoffs are announced separately for each course (B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des, M.F.Tech, MFM) and indicate the minimum rank or score required for admission. The expected cut-off for B.Des in Fashion Design is 100 points and 800 points for Textile Design.
