Design Entrance Exam

The National Institute of Design (NID) does not provide a specific syllabus for either the DAT Prelims or DAT Mains exams. Instead, the institute offers sample question papers for the B.Des and M.Des programs, enabling candidates to familiarize themselves with the question types, covered topics, and weightage. Utilizing previous years' NID DAT question papers serves as an additional resource for preparation. The initial phase of the NID DAT 2024 exam is DAT Prelims, encompassing color terminology, principles of composition, design theory, lettering, optical illusion, picture analysis, theme development, and more for both B.Des and M.Des programs. Successful candidates in DAT Prelims proceed to the DAT Mains exam. For B.Des, this stage involves a Studio Test, while M.Des applicants undergo both a Studio Test and a Personal Interview, the latter being conducted online, in contrast to the offline mode of the Studio Test for both programs.

The following is the selection process for any course at National Institute of Fashion Technology Patna:-Fill the application form from the Institute's official website with all required details such as 12th marks, address etc. After filling the application form, students will be called to appear for the NIFT entrance test. After the students qualify in the entrance test, they will be called for the final steps like counselling, Interview etc. After all the steps and fees deposition, the final admission will be given to the students. If we talk about the minimum marks required, the students need to qualify in the cutoff rank, the cutoff rank for B Des this year was 1692.

The following is the selection process for B Des at National Institute of fashion technology. 1.The students need to fill the online application form from the Institute's official website with all necessary details like 12th, 10th marks etc. 2.After filling the application form student will be called to qualify for the NIFT test which includes aptitude tests, group discussions etc. after that the students need to wait for the cutoff. 3.If the students qualifies in the cutoff, the NIFT counselling will take place. 4.After counselling, the students will be given the final admission. Talking about the minimum NIFT entrance marks required, it totally depends on the seats available, and the cutoff. The cutoff rank which was required for BDes in fashion Designer in 2023 was 1692. All other specialisations will have different ramks. 

The selection process for M.Des at NID Gandhinagar involves two stages:Stage 1: NID Entrance Exam (DAT)The DAT is a comprehensive aptitude test that assesses candidates' design skills, problem-solving abilities, and creative potential. The exam consists of two parts:DAT Prelims: A screening test that eliminates candidates who do not demonstrate the basic aptitude for design.DAT Mains: A more detailed assessment of design skills, including concept development, sketching, problem-solving, and communication.Candidates must score well in both the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains to qualify for the next stage of the selection process.Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test and InterviewShortlisted candidates from Stage 1 are invited to NID Gandhinagar for a Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and an interview. The DAT assesses candidates' ability to apply design principles to solve real-world problems. The interview evaluates candidates' overall design aptitude, portfolio, communication skills, and motivation for pursuing the M.Des program.The minimum NID Entrance Exam score required for M.Des admission varies depending on the specific specialisation and the competition each year. However, as a general guideline, candidates should aim for a score of 75% or above in both the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains to increase their chances of selection.
