Admission to NIFT Patna courses is done through NIFT entrance exam. To apply for NIFT counseling at MIT Institute of Design, interested candidates must first fill out the online application form available on the official website of MIT Institute of Design. The counseling process for NIFT is expected to be conducted online as a centralized seat-allotment process, and students will be shortlisted based on their NIFT rank and choice filling. Additionally, MIT Institute of Design conducts its own counseling process based on the final merit list prepared by considering the candidate's performance in the MITID DAT. The seat allotment to various design courses at MIT Institute of Design will be based on the merit rank of the candidate in the MITID DAT entrance exam. Candidates who have qualified in the entrance exam will be considered for admission, and they will have to pay the seat acceptance and admission fee to complete the admission process. The counseling schedule for MITID DAT will be announced by the institute at the time of the declaration of results.

No, NIFT is not required for MIT Institute of Design. The admission eligibility criteria for MIT Institute of Design are based on the candidate's performance in the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by the institute. The eligibility criteria for B.Des design and M.Des design programs at MIT Institute of Design require a minimum of 50% aggregate in all subjects in 10+2 from any stream (from any of the State Boards/ CBSE/ ICSE/ ISC/ CIE/ IB/ NIOS or equivalent exam). Additionally, proficiency in English and a valid score of MIT Pune Design Aptitude Test (DAT) or other equivalent exams such as NID-DAT, NIFT, UCEED, or Avantika Design Scholastic Test (ADST) is required.
