The process of admission in B.Des course offered by the ITM Institute of Design and Media is spread over several stages. The basic criteria for the course vary, but generally, applicants must fill an online form and for the minimum qualification, which is passing of 10+2 standard from any recognised board for some courses. These candidates are then expected to write a design aptitude test set by the institute for the deserving candidates. Depending on the test results, candidates who are invited for an interview may be required to sit for other tests such as a portfolio interview.

ITM Institute of Design and Media, Nerul, as a rule, provides satisfactory placement assistance, while most of the students successfully get jobs in fashion designing, animation, interior designing, digital marketing, etc. Strict standards of hiring are generally set by key recruiters such as well known brands operating in these sectors. Placement percentage and salary offered depends on the course chosen and the skill of the student. But, for a few students of those who enroll in the programme online or on-campus and get into better paid jobs, they note a weakness in industry linkages.
