As per the UGC guidelines, no college in India can offer engineering and medical courses through distance mode. Doing this is illegal. So, you ought to go for regular mode.

Don't worry, if you are in job right now, then wait for a year, and then apply for GATE exam. On the basis of GATE marks, you can get admission and generally all colleges give admission on the basis of GATE marks, so it seems quite tough to get admission without valid GATE score. So, wait for a year and apply for GATE exam, and then apply for M.Tech Working Professional Course.

There are many criteria which a candidate must ensure before joining M.Tech courses through distance learning. While opting for distance learning institute or a university for civil engineering program one should check the strength and syllabus of the program. Scope for research work, interactive sections offered by the university, placements offered, etc. The institution's certification must be valid and should have value as far as jobs are concerned.

* Evening or distance engineering courses are not valid anymore as per the latest supreme court verdict, hence would recommend you to join regular B.Tech course for better career prospects.

Distance education is still eligible if you apply for private colleges or institutes but full time is required in public colleges.
