DTU ranked 35 under the 'Engineering' category by the NIRF 2022 rankings. DTU has been ranked 38 and 63 under the 'University' and 'Overall' categories by the NIRF 2022 Rankings (National Institute of Ranking Framework). Internationally, DTU has been ranked under 601 - 650 by the QS Asia Rankings 2023. Additionally, as per The Times 2022 Rankings, Delhi Technological University ranks 1 in Delhi Under the 'Engineering' category.

According to the expected cutoff of DTU 2023 for software Engineering, which is 17842, you hold a high possibility to get your desired stream. But the cutoff depends on various factors such as rank secured in the JEE Main examination, availability of seats, choice filling, reservation criteria, etc. The minimum eligibility for admission is 10+2 (PCM) with at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognised board of education. If you qualified all the above criteria, you will be able to get your preferred course.

DTU is far better than the Thapar, it is so because the ranking you see might be of the Thapar in that they will always keep themselves above many colleges.

With general category you can't get any branch but if you are reserved category and also from Delhi then you will get a seat at least in the lowest branch possible.
