Nine years before the first IIT was founded at Kharagpur in 1950, Delhi Technological University (DTU), originally known as Delhi College of Engineering, was founded in 1941. IITs promote a set of universities with an NAAC ranking of "A" or higher. Additionally, DTU is ranked 'A' by the NAAC. Both colleges offer their students a wide range of UG and PG courses along with fantastic placement chances. The top package available at DTU for the 2021–2022 academic year was INR 1.8 CPA, whereas the highest packages at IIT consistently surpass INR 1 CPA. Delhi Technological University (DTU) generally holds a higher reputation compared to NIT Jamshedpur, largely due to its advantageous location in Delhi, which offers greater exposure and opportunities for internships, industry interactions, and placements. DTU boasts strong faculty, diverse programs, and well-established infrastructure. Placement statistics often favor DTU, with higher average packages. However, NIT Jamshedpur is also respected, especially in core engineering fields, and offers a good return on investment due to lower fees (around INR 1.25 Lacs per year) compared to DTU's higher tuition (approximately INR 1.9 Lacs per y

The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to DTU is 60% marks in the 12th board exam, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. You meet this criteria. However, the final admission to DTU is based on the JEE Mains rank, not just the 12th marks. For the general category, meeting cutoff requires a JEE Mains rank within the top 4,500. For SC/ST candidates, the cutoff is slightly lower, but a rank of 106,645 in the SC category is still quite low.

Yes, DTU is considered as a good option to go for BDes.DTU is a well-established university with a strong reputation in engineering. This brand value can be beneficial in the job market. Being part of a technical university can expose you to engineering principles and design thinking with a technical bent, which could be valuable in certain design fields. Faculty size is lower compared to dedicated design colleges, but some professors hold qualifications from prestigious design institutes. Compared to private design colleges, DTU offers a BDes programme at a more affordable cost.
