Difference between Double Major and Double Degree:
Double Major allows a student to get one degree, but with specialization in two different disciplines. Example: BA in History and Anthropology. The student gets only one degree, but have specialization in two disciplines. Double Degree allows students to simultaneously pursue two different degrees either in the same domain of specialization or two different domains. The courses such as B.Tech + M.Tech and B.Tech +MBA are examples of double degrees of different types. The term Double Degree is synonymously used with Dual Degree. Difference between Integrated Course and Dual Degree.
In both integrated courses and dual degree, the students save 1 year. Yet, there are differences between the two. In integrated courses, the students get both the Bachelor's degree and Master's degree after 5 years duration. In case of Engineering, the Bachelor's degree is for 4 years and Masters are for 2 years duration. In the integrated course, a student saves 1 year. At the end of the course, the students will be given both the degrees at once. In dual degree courses, the students get their Bachelors after 4 years duration and the Masters after one year. The degrees are not awarded at once as in integrated courses. Advantages of Integrated courses and Dual Degrees:
1) The obvious advantage is that it saves 1 year. The students get employment and start earning a year ahead of others.
2) The cost of education also reduces with the reduction in one year. There is no need to prepare for a separate entrance exam for doing the Masters course.
3) B.Tech +MBA programme gives management skills to an engineering student. It is an added advantage.
4) B.Tech + M.Tech programme gives in-depth knowledge in the engineering domain, which is demanded in many industries. The students can directly go to Ph.D after the integrated or dual course in B.Tech + M.Tech/ B.Sc+M.Sc.

Integrated courses have both advantages and disadvantages.
1) Integrated courses such as B.E+ MBA (5 years), B.Tech + M.Tech (5 years) are considered advantageous over regular B.E+MBA / B.Tech+M.Tech (6 years). Since it saves 1 year, many people would think integrated courses as better option. But, the downside here is, in case of BE+MBA (Integrated) the possibility of doing specialisation in MBA is restricted. The students would be good at Engineering and also would have management skills, yet with no specialisation in a narrow domain of management.
2) Integrated M.Sc. In Computer Science (5 years) has high demand in the job market.
3) The value of the course purely depends on the eminence of the college/university in which the student gets graduated. The integrated courses offered in IITs, NITs and various other prestigious colleges are always highly respected by the industry.
4) Few colleges provide integrated courses similar to student exchange programme. The first two years of the course would be done in an Indian university and the next two years would be pursued in a foreign university.
5) The integrated courses such as B.Tech+M.Tech (5 years) will give more subject knowledge, which are not preferred by many companies. The industries will treat both B.Tech and integrated course graduates on par.
6) Integrated course BE+MBA will make a student more of a generalist, not specialist in management.
7) The BBA+MBA (5 years) from a reputed university is highly valued.
8) LL.M. (Master in Law) has been introduced as an integrated course in India recently. Integrated courses such as B.A+B.L, B.Sc+B.L are already there. These save time and money of the students in general.
9) The students need not prepare for two entrance exams. They can do both UG and PG with one entrance exam.
10) Integrated courses hinder the opportunities to pursue the higher degree in a much more prestigious university than the one where the students pursue their UG.
