Dyal Singh Evening College, University of Delhi, is categorically a Tier 2 institution. That is to say, it is part of the elite University of Delhi but not one among the top-of-the-line Tier 1 institutions in the country, which include institutions like St Stephen's, Hindu College, and Shri Ram College of Commerce. However, Dyal Singh Evening College still provides quality education and good faculty, especially for evening programs, and is known to be cheap. The college is a very strong choice for students seeking flexibility and a friendly learning environment.

While Dyal Singh Evening College, Delhi University will take CUET UG scores into consideration for admissions to 2024 B.A. (Hons.), the merit of a candidate in CUET UG will only determine his/her chances of being admitted to these courses, such as B.A. (Hons.) Political Science and B.A. (Hons.) English. Cutoff depends on the number of applicants and will vary with the different reservations made category-wise. For instance, the intake cuts for some of the earlier courses, had been as low as 90% in 12th grade marks for courses like B.A. (Hons.) HRM and Economics.
