SRM does not admit students through lateral entry as a matter of rule. It's vacancy based. You need to contact SRM immediately to know the status and then take steps accordingly. Refer attached link also: http://www.srmuniv.ac.in/admission-india/Eligibility/Engineering-and-Technology.

Each institute is authorised for certain intake in each branch by AICTE. No institute can admit students beyond this. Hence lateral entry directly into second year is not guaranteed guaranteed by SRM & its not announced publicly also. I am attaching a link where you can see it.

Both the degrees are totally different from each other. If you have studied Science and Maths in your class 12th, then you can go for B.Tech.
