Mechanical engineering will be smooth for you if you had an interest in the Newtonian Physics in your high school. However, electrical engineering asks for a lot more efforts. Personally, in terms of ease I would go with mechanical.
Also, mechanical engineering from Thapar has a lot more value in terms of placements and opportunities compared to Electrical. If you have choices then go with mechanical.

This is the age of Electronics. Electronics is impacting all aspects of human life. Next generation of automation is driven by Electronics. I am the opinion that opportunities and career growth scope of Electronics grads will higher in comparison to pure Electrical Engineering grads.

Admission in M.Tech at IITs and NITs is based on GATE score. IIT-Powai and IIT-Delhi are best Institute for M.Tech in electrical engineering.

Yes, you can appear for LEET examination that is for lateral entry into the second year of engineering. If your Diploma percentage is good, you can directly apply for some colleges which take admission on the basis of the Diploma percentage.
