Electrical Engineering is a core branch of engineering. Job opportunities for electrical engineers are in Power generation & Distribution companies. Also they are employed in Operations & Maintenance roles in all types of manufacturing and serviced companies. B.Tech Electrical Engineers are employed in Government sector including Defence Services & Paramilitary services. They are also employed in R&D and acedmics also.

yes, this is a good engineering branch. it is an evergreen branch since it doesn't get affected by recession or any adverse effects on market. compared to CSE and ECE branches,it has less job opportunities in private sector and has a low package. However, in government sector it has got plenty of job opportunities and nice salary.so,if you have got interest in this,then go ahead and pursue it.

Pradyut, after diploma go for lateral entry B.Tech I.e.take admission in 2nd year.of B.Tech.
You have to appear for Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET). You must have min.of 60% marks in diploma to appear for LEET.
If you have not given LEET too, then opt for good private universities etc which offer admission on basis of LEET as well as marks in Diploma. They offer world class environment to students along with good placements. Some even offer good scholarships to students.
