National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology Gorakhpur admission process begins with registration. The institute releases the application form online for all programmes. Admission to O and A Level courses is based on NIELIT Entrance Exam scores. GATE is considered for admission to M.Tech programme of NIELIT. For certificate and Diploma programmes, the selection is based on merit of the aspirants in the last qualifying exam.

National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology Gorakhpur does offer direct admission. Aspirants need to meet the course-specific requirements for direct admission. Candidates who have qualified GATE are eligible for direct admission in M.Tech course. Aspirants who have passed Class 12/ any Diploma of a minimum of one year after Class 10/ ITI certificate after Class 10 followed in each case by one year relevant experience are eligible to direct admission in O Level course.
