Embedded system is a computer system with a dedicated function within a larger mechanical or electrical system, often with real-time computing constraints and Very-large-scale integration (VLSI) is the process of creating an integrated circuit by combining thousands of transistors into a single chip. Generally, embedded systems and VLSI are available as post graduate courses such as M.Tech only. ME / M.Tech is a two year course. Eligibility:
The eligibility is to have a BE/B.Tech with at least 55% marks. But it is better to have a degree in electronics background. Admission process:
The admission is based on the marks in BE / B.Tech while some of the top colleges conduct entrance exams also. Career opportunities:
Embedded System is the future. Every industry needs some artificial intelligence into it and artificial intelligence can be given by embedded systems only. No electronic product is without embedded systems in the market. Companies like TCS, Wipro, L&T, TATA, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Volvo, Airbus and Toshiba are investing heavily in their embedded systems operations in India and so they recruit many people. They can work in the research and development department of firms such as the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Electronics Corporation of India Limited and National Intelligence Council. They can seek employment as Junior Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow in IITs or IIsc. A fresh graduate can also work as management trainee in such organizations. Private firms offer plenty of job opportunities for such candidates, where one can work as Application Consultants, Field Application Engineer, Design Engineer etc. Some of the popular firms are:

Computing and Programming - Programming is pretty important for robotics, so subjects like computer Science and information systems are a great choice. Design and Technology - Subjects that can boost the practical side of engineering include product design, graphic communication, technological studies, and manufacturing. Specific Engineering Disciplines - Some schools provide subjects in specific engineering disciplines such as automotive, bioengineering, electronics, mechatronics and mechanical engineering. Elementary level of these subjects is okay to go for Robotics. It's a good opportunity to go for robotics after B.Sc. IT as we can see that course are aligned.
