Engineer exams

The purpose of the GATE exam is to test the students knowledge and understanding of their under Graduate level subjects in Engineering and Science. The GATE score reflects the relative performance level of a candidate. Every year Lacs of Engineering graduate students are coming from universities and engineering colleges. In the present competitive scenario, to measure and test the calibre of engineering students is possible through the GATE exam only. There is a misconception among students is that the GATE exam is only for ME. /M.Tech which finally leads to a teaching career only. But, it is not correct. The GATE score of the candidate is also used by several public sector undertakings (PSU) (I. e. , government-owned companies) for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions, to get Fellowship Programs from CSIR and Scholarships in ME/M.Tech and many more.

Unlike NEET exam for entry to medical colleges, engineering students have to appear for many different entrance exams. Primarily, you need to appear for the entrance exam that your state demands for admission to engineering colleges then you need to appear for JEE Mains for getting admission into NIT is for CFTI's then you can also appear for entrance exams conducted by different Deemed to be universities having engineering colleges or private unaided colleges which also conduct their own exam. I am afraid there is no going away from it, so you need to decide what you want where you want to get admission and then accordingly apply for and prepare for the different exams that you need to appear from the list that I have explained above.

There are two ways to join as a lateral entry student:
1. After Diploma, you can apply through counseling, which will be conducted at Alagappa Chettiyar University, Karaikudi. Counseling call depends on your Diploma final year percentage. If you received a call for the first day counseling or topped with a rank of at least below 10, you're almost have a chance to get a seat at PSG Tech. Your final year percentage should be more than 96 if you're a general category applicant. For BC/MBC it should be more than 94%. For SCA/SC/ST more than 92 is enough.
2. Throw' management quota. Fees for this entry may depends on the branch of engineering. It may varies from 5 to 10lakh Rupees donation. Other state students can join with PSG Tech throw' this quota. Applications for lateral entry admissions will be issued at all Government engineering colleges in all districts. During mid of May month application issue starts. For SC/ST student's application is free if you submit attested copy of your community certificate. This admission is applicable for all engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu is the state, which abolished entrance exam for engineering last year. From last year onwards, the qualifying exam has been declared as class 12th. The marks will be brought down out of 200, and the merit list will be prepared. This is for the seats available for government colleges and private colleges. Deemed universities located in Tamil Nadu have the option of having their own entrance exam, and you will have to appear for one such exam, if you are interested in admission in any of these deemed universities. Of course, over and above this, there is a management quota, which is filled by these private institutions by different means. Here, nothing is known as to the methodology adopted by these institutions. You will have to approach every institution individually, if you are interested in getting admission against management quota seat.
