The salary of an assistant executive engineer at ONGC is
Initial Basic pay: INR 24900
Dearness Allowance (DA): 100.3 percent of Basic pay
House Rent Allowance (HRA): 30 percent of Basic pay
Perks and Allowances: 47 percent of Basic pay
Hard duty + Shift allowance + Mining allowance: 52 percent
Total pay: 329.3 I. e. INR 81,992
CMRE (traveling): INR 9,545 per month
Uniform Allowance: INR 84,000 per year I. e. INR 7,000 per month ( it comes in every 3rd salary )
Total salary: INR 98,537
Deductions: PF, Pension Fund, IT, and Sahyog Fund. Expect INR 1.25 to INR 1.5 lacs in taxes. PF: INR 6k per month

Choose your area of interest, search about both stream, scopes are comparatively equal in both stream, you need to know about yours choices but from my point of view I am also a engineer, mechanical engineering is best, I hope it helps you.

1- Junior Engineers come under Group C for very freshers having a pay scale of INR 9400 to INR 34800 Grade Pay 4600 and after 3 years of working you will be in Group B but the post will be the same I. e. SSE, the only difference will be in the pay scale incremented by 12 percent.
2- It just sounds good SSE but here nothing has to do about Engineering. The person recruited for these posts only to supervise the technicians (e. g Fitter, Electricians, turners, etc. ). To do work properly, so it is a must that the person supervising has a background of Technical knowledge Of various engineering Departments so named Section Engineering.
