Instrumentation is a niche branch with limited career opportunities. Role of instrumentation engineering can be filled by electronics, electrical and mechanical engineering also. ECE has wider scope and career opportunities. ECE grads are employed by all type of industries but majority in electronics, telecom, IT and ITES industries. ECE grads are preferred for IT infrastructure management and support roles also. ECE grads have opportunities in comparison to Instrumentation engineers.
