Hello,
I was doing some research on education and research opportunities in Canada. I've found that Alberta is the province where mine engineering is in a boom. University of Alberta as well as university of Calgary are top universities in Canada for mine engineering. Also, Alberta is the mining capital and there are lot of mining industries based in Alberta.
I suggest you the choose U of Alberta or U of Calgary over UBC as there is more scope for mining in Alberta and Vancouver is known for arts and computer science programs. Hope this helps you. Cheers!

It is not compulsory to have computer at +2 to become a engineer. It is a desirable course at +2 level. Once you join engineering, you will have few papers on basics of computer as part of syllabus in I and II year of engineering to make you skillful to effectively use computer in engineering profession.
