Whatever weapons industry India has is in the hands of the public sector. You have the gun factories, ordinance and armament factories, all under the ministry of Science and tech or defense. These organisations have their own independent recruitment process. DRDO is an organisation that works in the field of development of weapon systems. It has undertaken development of many useful technologies associated with warfare. Weapon systems require engineers from all streams including avionics and aerospace. NAL is another organisation that contributes to weapon engineering. HAL is one of the premier avionics and aircraft manufacturing outfit taht is deep into weapon systems. There are many PSUs involved in ship building in Kochi, Karwar, Kolkata and other places which involve state of art weapon systems. Most of these defense related organizations recruit standard run-of-the-mill engineers from electrical, mechanical, computer, telecom, production streams ( the list is not exhaustive. They often have vacancies for general graduate trainees as well as Scientist / Engineer posts) through their own recruitment process. No they do not do campus because that would be unfair to other institutions I guess. However ISRO provides special B.Tech / M.Tech / Combined courses in Avionics and aerospace. Absorption isn't guaranteed. But graduating from that course gives you a head start for weapon engineering not only in India but abroad too.

You are eligible for the tag of an engineer before your name if you have completed BE/B.Tech from any authorized institute of India. Branch doesn't matter. B.Tech Food Technology or Bachelor of Technology in Food Technology is an undergraduate course which deals in food engineering and food sciences. It provides in-depth knowledge of the fields like food processing, food packaging, nutrition, storage, etc. Any person who opts for this course gets the edge of being known as a food scientist or food technocrat. B.Tech in Food Technology is a field-specific course which introduces a person to food-related technology and its specifications. It relates to the study of areas like packaging, nutrition, chemical balances of food, microbiology, etc., and provides a wider understanding of food products and food raw materials.

Yes. Engineering college does matter and a lot more if you want to be successful, atleast in this country!
From what I have seen and felt, most of your perception to the outside world surely depends on what undergraduate college you belong to or graduated from. You might not believe this but such is the truth. Now this so-called perception is global. Happens everywhere. Ever heard about the power of association? Well, you must have. We all like to associate with something big or powerful. And that's human nature. It's a matter of pride for anyone from the top-notch engineering colleges (IITs/BITS/some NITs) because of the legacy association factor. This single most association might decide the trajectory of your entire mindset and career. Well, exceptions exist. Not going into this. On the contrary, there are also sections of people who believe that the college doesn't matter and skills do. Let me tell you that skills don't grow on trees. Moreover, kids in top engineering colleges aren't suckers for bad skills either. As I said, prestigious association makes you an attractive option to recruiters, companies, potential partners (yes!). Etc. Skills can be learnt and the fact the candidates made it to top tier engineering colleges implies they are malleable. Engineering college does matter. Your entire perspective about life will change if you are in good hands. And, trust me, that's a remarkable thing in itself.
