Hello,
There is bad news for aspirants of BE via distance education. SC has canceled degrees of many students awarded by such universities. It's best to join some college. If it's not feasible then I would suggest you to clear AMIE which is considered as equivalent to engineering graduation.

Generally, there are no restrictions at all but it depends on a particular college or it depends on you only that what you have done after completing the job. If you were working after that, it means you have a work experience so the college will not get affected by it. But you can't get lateral entry due to time gap. If you have dropped 2-3 years, you may get a lateral entry but in this case, you can't get admission via lateral entry. You can take admission to B.Tech in any branch provided you have all therequired documents.

Hello Souvik,
The number of seats available for lateral entry is actually not fixed. It depends on many dynamic factors. But roughly it can be as 10% of the authorised intake in that particular stream in that college.
