The ranking in JEE Main with 12,000 may be out of competition with top colleges in IIT and NIT in CSE department, which happens when the ranking in the entrance test goes highly competitive for seats in that stream. Generally, for most of the IITs, CSE seats can be acquired from closing rank with 2,000-4,000 ranks for general candidates. At new NIT or other government college levels, getting CSE seats will also be achievable in the same range of rank like 12,000.Official cut-offs of the specific institutions and branches you're interested in must be checked.
