The faculty for B.Tech Marine Engineering at VELS School of Maritime Studies includes highly skilled lecturers who were once mariners as well as instructors with years of experience. These individuals take great care in preparing the cadets to become future navigating officers and marine engineers. The four-year B.E.Marine Engineering course is approved by the DG Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, and leads to Class IV Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency, awarded by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, after six months of sea service. The faculty members are experienced professionals with Master Mariner (FG), MEO Class I, Mate (FG), Diploma in Nautical Science, Chief Officer – Merchant Navy, MCA, M Tech, M.Sc, M.Phil, B.Ed, MBA, and other relevant qualifications.

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jain Deemed-to-be University, Bangalore, does not have a specified limit on the number of students who can pursue a B.Tech degree. However, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) norms and requirements state that the minimum intake for a B.Tech programme is 18 seats, which can be increased in steps of 6 up to a maximum of 24. Additionally, 6 more seats can be added if the course is accredited. The AICTE also specifies the land requirements and building space for technical institutions, which vary based on the program.
