It won't be easy to get into the second year. It will depend on the university's credit point requirements and if you have met them. Also, you completed your Bachelor's through distance and open learning so additional credit point requirements must be met. This depends from university to university and also if your distance B.Tech is recognised by UGC or not. Please email universities in USA admits enquiring.They will get back to you. You can also share a soft copy of your degree with them.

Don't decide on the basis of the best branch and go for the branch that you like. Any branch from MIT will give you good placement. Just work hard and smart.
