B.Tech in food technology is completely different from ECE so comparison of both is not good. Food technology is a new branch and then it has less crowd than ECE so if you are going to food technology then there is more change for you to get a job in future.
And a thing that you are saying which is good for girls nowadays in every field girls are also doing good just take an example of Nandini K R has done B.Tech (Civil Engineering) and you all know she is the topper of civil examination 2016 so you can think civil engineering is the branch that mainly girls don't want to take but she took it and did her best, so don't think I can't do it just because I am girl, you can do it.

The definition of best varies from person to person and is influenced by personal inclinations and one's strength for e.g. some people might go with the regular stream like CS, mechanical, electronics and some might go with not so common branches like Robotics, petroleum, mining.
Opt for the engineering branch that you love the most and are most passionate about and analyze the future work conditions, scope and growth prospects before taking admission.
You can also opt for psychometric test comprising of Aptitude, personality and career interest to clear confusion.
