Moreover, as IT field is developing, you can select computer engineering. Aeronautical engineering, metallurgy and production are also few of the good options.

Aeronautical engineering is a niche branch and following are employers of aeronautical engineers in India: (a) Indian Air Force (b) DRDO (c) ISRO (d) Airlines as aircraft maintenance engineers (e) Universities (f) Aircraft manufacturing companies and its ancillaries, etc. Indian Air Force and DRDO have lots of opening for aeronautical engineers. There are also lots of opportunities available abroad for Aeronautical Engineers. Aeronautical engineering graduates can easily get starting CTC of INR 5+ Lakhs.

There are good number of jobs for aeronautical engineering graduates with aircraft manufacturing and its ancillaries. PSU and private sector companies, airlines, IAF, DRDO, ISRO, IT companies with engineering vertical, etc.

Aeronautical engineering is a niche branch of engineering. It does not have scope and opportunities equivalent to core branches of Engineering. But it still has good scope in PSU, Private sector, airlines, IAF, DRDO, ISRO, IT industry, etc.

The number of new engineering jobs in India are less in comparison to number of engineers completing the course from Indian Universities. But, it is still a very good career option, if you do engineering from a top engineering colleges.

If you are interested, then you can pursue this course. It has good scope and variable placements, if you are passionate towards it. SRM - Chennai is a better option for genetic engineering.
