He eligibility for the B.Tech programme varies from institute to institute. For example, some universities provide admission with 50% or 60% minimum in the 12th class. Being an alumnus of LPU I would like to tell you that you should have a minimum of 60% marks in the 12th class with mandatory subjects English Math, and Physics. It depends. In the present India's economic environment the earnings of Mechanical engineers depend largely on the following verticals. QUALIFICATION:
1) B.Tech- 25-30k for freshers and ~50k after 4+ years experience.
2) M.Tech- 50-60k for freshers and ~80k after 4+ experience. COLLEGE: (for B.Tech freshers, pvt. Cos. )
1) 45-60k for Class-A college.
2) 25-30k for Class-B college.
3) 12-22k for Class-C college. NATURE OF ADMINISTRATION:
1) Private organisation- Same pattern as Qualification.
2) Government: (for B.Tech freshers, excl. Training, excl. Annual allowance, as per 6th pay)

The government job options after Polytechnic includes-
Junior Engineer, IT Assistant, PSU jobs, Clerk, Technician, etc. BSNL, BHEL, GAIL, Railways, ONGC, DRDO, IPCL, PSU, etc. The last job option for the students after Polytechnic is to start their own company and become self- employed.
