You do not want to get into a job after your degree? No problem. You can have quite a few good options to go for a higher study after a degree in MA English Literature or a masters in English literature. You can opt to do a Ph.D. in any of the following subjects. There are many other options too.
1.Ph.D. in Linguistics
2.Ph.D. in Comparative Literature
3.Ph.D. in Classical English Literature or Ph.D. in Classics
4.Ph.D. in English Language
5.Ph.D. in Teaching of English as a Foreign Language

Hey Ankit to be an IAS officer you must appear for upsc cse . This only require graduation in any discipline. So you are eligible after BA only but if you want to study more then it is better to pursue MA in your optional subject.
