Yes, you are permitted to use a calculator, but only the one from the test. The on-screen calculator is provided on the computer-based GRE while the Quantitative Reasoning section is being administered. The paper-based GRE comes with a basic handheld calculator, which is provided by the test center. Personal calculators are prohibited. The on-screen calculator offered is basic, using such functions as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and square roots. It makes the calculation easier but not as a replacement for analytical ability. Proper use of the calculator requires knowing when to save time and avoid making errors during the test.

There is no direct admission to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna without the required national-level entrance exam scores:  B.
