First, you have not mentioned a college name. Age criteria depend on college to college and also depend upon the category you belong to. The maximum age limit is not required for private fashion design colleges like Symbiosis Institute of Design Pune and Pearl Academy Delhi. In these Institutes, you are eligible for doing fashion design courses at the age of 25 years. Yes you can apply for NIFT exam being a commerce student but your eligible for doing only B. Design course and not B.FTech course. There are two courses offered after passing NIFT exam, they are B. Design and B. F. Tech
The eligibility for B. Des course is
1. You must pass 12th in any stream from a recognised board of education.
2. Even Diploma students with 10+3 or 10+4 pattern of study also can apply. The eligibility for B.FTech course is
1. You must pass 12th with Maths Physics and Chemistry stream from a recognised board of education.
2. Even Diploma students with 10+3 or 10+4 pattern of study also can apply.

Dear Prachi, Yes, you can admission to the fashion design programme at LPU easily as they ask for only 50% marks in the 12th class to fulfil the eligibility criteria. My friend has done her B. Design Fashion from Lovely Professional University and today she is successfully running her own Brand, she was also part of internship projects with leading Fashion stylists. Also, her designs are appreciated not just in India but even abroad. She always keeps on appraising LPU for different platforms provided by them.
