The National Institute of Fashion Technology will release category wise merit lists. These includes the Common Merit Rank (CMR), GEN EWS Rank List, OBC NCL Rank List, SC Rank List, ST Rank List, CMR PwD List, OBC NCL PwD Rank List, SC PwD Rank List, and ST PwD Rank list. The general category candidate will not be considered for admission under reserved category seats. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will also be considered for admission under the CMR category. Note that the candidate had to select their category at the time of filling out the NIFT 2023 application form.

In the scenario two or more candidates score the same marks in NIFT, then tie-breaker policy will be applied.The marks scored by the candidate in tests with higher weightage will be considered to break the tie. For example, for the B. Des programme, marks obtained in the CAT exam will be compared to break the tie.If the marks obtained in the CAT are equal, then marks obtained in GAT will be considered.If tie is undecided, then subject-wise marks in the following order will be considered: Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Analytical Ability &General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology offers M.Des MFM and M.FTech courses at its 18 campuses. Admission to these courses are on the basis of NIFT 2025 merit ranks. The final merit rank of NIFT 2025 for the M.Des programme will be prepared by giving weightage to CAT (40%), CAT (30%), and Interview (30%). In case of the M.FTech and MFM courses, the GAT carries 70% weightage, while the Interview carries 30% weightage. Note that MFM and M.FTech candidates don't need to take the CAT Test.

The NIFT exam includes two stages - The candidate first appears in the written exams, and if shortlisted has to next appear in a Situation Test/ Personal Interview (PI).Note that the written exams for the B.Des and M.Des program includes the GAT and CAT, whereas for the other programs the written exam includes only the GAT.The final score for the B. Des programme will be prepared by considering the performance of the candidate in CAT, GAT and the Situation Test. The National Institute of Fashion Technology declared the final results for NIFT 2023 on April 29, 2023. The result includes details like the name, roll number, and signature of the candidate. Importantly, it will contain the sectional and overall scores, and the merit rank of the candidate in the NIFT 2023 exam. Candidates who qualify in the exam will be shortlisted for counseling. Note that NIFT 2023 seat allotment will be as per the merit rank of the candidate in NIFT 2023.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology declared the final results of NIFT 2023 online at niftadmissions. In. To check their results, the candidate needs to log in using their email id and password. Note that hard copies of the results will not be sent to the candidate. The result of NIFT 2023 is valid for the current academic year only. Using NIFT 2023 merit rank, the candidate can apply for admission to B. Des/ M.Des courses offered by NIFT 2023 participating colleges. Note that in addition to the participating colleges, there are many other design colleges that also use NIFT scores for admission to their UG and PG courses.
