The allotment of seats is based on: Choice opted at the time of counseling registration (academic programs + campuses) The category of the candidate Seat intake in the college opted for admission NIFT 2023 merit rank of the candidate. NIFT 2023 seat allotment process will be conducted in May 2023. The National Institute of Fashion Technology is conducting counseling registration for NIFT 2023 from April 28 to May 8 (12 pm, midnight). In case of the B. Des and B.FTech programmes, the candidates should be less than 24 years as on July 1, 2023. There is relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories. However, there is no age limit for applying to the postgraduate programmes at NIFT. When applying for admission to design courses at the NIFTs, the candidate must also carefully go through the academic requirements. Note that even if a candidate qualifies the NIFT Entrance Exam but doesn't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, he or she will not be considered for admission.

A. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) released the NIFT 2023 answer key on February 22, 2023. The question paper for NIFT 2023 was also be released alongside the answer key. Candidates were also able to challenge the answer key and question paper on payment of a non-refundable fee of INR 500 (per observation/objection). The feedback given by the candidate against the draft key is used by exam officials to prepare the final keys. The final answer key contains the correct and official keys for questions asked in the NIFT exam.

For B. Des and M.Des course admissions, candidates need to appear for CAT and GAT. NIFT Syllabus for CAT is such that candidates need to attempt drawing questions in the paper. Some topics that candidates should practice while preparing for the exam are design theory, creative thinking, and writing, elements and principles of design, principles of composition, etc. For GAT. Candidates should study topics such as quantitative ability, English comprehension, logical reasoning, etc.

The B. Des programme has a total intake of 3, 265 seats. These include, 2, 714 All-India, 253 state-domicle, and 298 NRI seats. The National Institute of Fashion Technology offers the following specializations: Fashion Design (FD) Leather Design (LD) Accessory Design (AD) Textile Design (TD) Knitwear Design (KD) Fashion Communication (FC) Apparel Production (Andhra Pradesh) Admission to the design courses listed above will be based on NIFT 2023 merit ranks.

The eligibility criteria may differ depending on the course opted by the candidate. For instance, candidates seeking admission to the B. Des course needs to have passed 10+2 exam from a recognised institute and should be less than 24 hours as of August 1, 2023. Relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit applies for candidates belonging to Sc, ST and PwD candidates.

The written tests for the NIFT 2023 exam were held on February 5, 2023. The written tests comprised a General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT). GAT is mandatory for all candidates, but CAT is only required for B. Des and M. Des candidates. Note that during the computer-based GAT paper, candidates faced technical issues. Consequently, the paper was re-conducted on February 19, 2023.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the NIFT 2025 Studio Test/ Interview based on their performance in the written tests.Note that the NIFT 2025 written exams comprise the GAT and CAT exams.If the candidate fails to be included in the shortlist, he or she is not eligible to appear in the Situation Test/ Interview.The National Institute of Fashion Technology will conduct the Situation Test for the B.Des program sometime in April 2025. A: The final results of NIFT 2023 were declared on April 28, 2023. Candidates can check their results following the download link given on this page. The final results were prepared considering the performance of the candidate in GAT CAT and Situation Test/ Personal Interview. Consequently, the final results are released only for such candidates who appeared in both the written exam and Situation Test/Personal Interview.
