Though both the universities are good in terms of academics but being an alumni of LPU let me explain in detail. The salient features of this course (B. Design (Fashion) B.Sc. (Fashion) includes:-Availability of international forecast WGSN for trend forecasting. The latest machinery & soft wares to keep students at the cutting edge of technology. The various programs of the dept. Are supported by materials like books of various international publishers, state of the art labs and design studios. The emphasis is on self-motivated learning by using creativity, exploring techniques & innovating new applications in fashion. In B. Design (Fashion) the students are provided with an opportunity to showcase their design collection through an Annual Graduating Fashion show. These programs aim at educating the students on all facets that make up this growing industry, through workshops/ seminars, market research, Industry visits & craft documentation. School of Design provides international exposure opportunities like international study trip, exchange programme, summer/research studies. Students get a chance to attend fashion weeks by FDCI where they get to work backstage with eminent designers and deal with buyers and several clients attending the show. In addition to the regular course work, design workshops are undertaken to inlay upon students an effective understanding of materials such as thermo Cole, paper, wood and clay to be used in creation of lifestyle products as well as functional art-pieces. Fabric design forms the core of the whole business of Fashion industry. Active participation of students has been encouraged in various activities like workshops on Mural making, textile art, fashion accessories (by Mr. Ankur, exhibition designer from NID, Ahmedabad), junk art, t-shirt painting, hairstyling etc. A workshop on Sanjhi art was given by Mr. Ram Soni, a national award. There are various labs like Garment Construction Lab, Textile testing lab, Fabric development lab, Pattern lab, Dyeing and Printing lab, Material Handling Lab, Computer Lab, Printing Lab, Photography Lab and Resource Centre. In addition, for the demand for Indian garments, designer saris and textiles are also of great demand. Though both the universities are good in terms of academics but being an alumni of LPU let me explain the things in detail. There is 100% Placement every year where students are placed with retail, luxury, export, buying, craft sector, fashion houses, etc. Industry interface with leading brands for summer training, full-term optional/ compulsory internships, On-job training, study tours, and skill enhancement events and workshops are extensively integrated in the LPU curricula, to expose students to real work environments and provide them an opportunity to apply their learning in real life situations. This placement can be attributed to lots of factors like Handholding through Start-up School and Entrepreneurship: It is to set up new ventures, improve upon and modernize existing business, engage in social entrepreneurship / NGO. My elder sister has done Fashion Designing from LPU itself so there are certain key highlights. Pass with 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with English or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPU NEST or UCEED. For a candidate, who has not studied English as a subject, the condition of English may be waived off provided the candidate in his qualifying exam has studied in English medium. (5% relaxation to North East states and Sikkim candidates/ Defence Personnel and their Dependents/ Wards of Kashmir Migrants)
