The age limit is different for different colleges. You can always apply for a Masters program if you aren't applicable for the undergrad course.

The general admission criteria is based on entrance: For NIFT-:
For admission in Bachelors of fashion Design, the total score of every applicant will be a composite of:
50 per cent - General Ability Test (GAT)
30 per cent - Creative Ability Test (CAT)
20 per cent - Situation Test
For admission to the Bachelors of Fashion Technology, the total score of every applicant will be based on their General Ability Test (GAT) score.
As for the syllabus and pattern of entrance exam, you have to take a crash course coaching.

There is no book as such. NIFT judges you by knowing your potentials. Take up a coaching for this. Refer to previous years' question papers. Knowledge of English language and Global Current Affairs is must. There are few questions on linguistic aptitude as well.
All the best.

To get into any good college, you will have to appear for the entrance test .You need to give an entrance exam to get admission in NIFT. The basic eligibility criteria to pursue in National Institute of Fashion Technology is successfully completing 12th. Admissions are done on the basis of an entrance examination, i.e. CAT and GAT. After clearing, there is a situation test followed by a group discussion or counselling.
