You will get admission in distance learning course for fashion designing but, there is no scope after completing the course. You can only learn fashion designing when you do it practically and not just by reading the theory.

Hi Lavi,
To start a career as a fashion designer, two types of qualifications are required:
1. Natural: this skill set would comprise of a decent aesthetic sense, colour expertise, good taste and sense of trends and fashion. An eye for detail and knowledge of fabrics is also important.
2. Acquired skills would be a qualification from a decent, recognized fashion Institute. You can enroll for either a full-time course or a part-time certificate course. Fashion designers design garments which are functional as well as attractive and in keeping with trends, market predictions and the climate.
Advancement Opportunities:
New designers often begin their careers working for those with more experience. They work as pattern makers or sketching assistants. With increased experience one can move into a supervisory position becoming, for example, a chief designer or a design department head.
The opportunities for job exist in the following sectors :
Export houses dealing with garment/textile/handloom exports

Just check the placements at NIFT in both and decide. Though It is an excellent place to be, as the entry is very selective but it depends from branch to branch when it comes to over all output of an institute.
