There is no standard 'International exam' for fashion designing. You need to apply for each school separately. Schools usually require an essay and portfolio. This process starts in November itself.

You can choose NIFT because after graduating from NIFT, you can become a good fashion designer and can get good placements for what you required that is apparel designing.

You need to have an under-graduation degree in order to sit for the Masters entrance of NIFT. So, if you get your degree, by the time of the examination, then you can surely start preparing yourself for the entrance exam 2018.

You can still prepare for the Masters in fashion designing entrance exam.
NIFT Entrance Exam 2018 Eligibility Criteria for M.Des Programme:
Candidates are eligible to apply for admissions in M.Des programme if they fulfil any of the below-mentioned criteria:
- Have successfully done an undergraduate degree programme from any institute or university that is recognised by the law in India.
-Possess a Diploma or UG in Design from NIFT or NID only.
-Possess an undergraduate Diploma from NIFT or NID of minimum three years duration.

You are advised to evaluate join National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). NIFTS are fashion institutes in India. First NIFT was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and is an institution of design, management and technology for the international fashion business. Majority of todays famous fashion designer are NIFT pass out. NIFT offers four year degree course BDesign. Selection is based on written examination. Students after 10+2 are eligible to seek admission at BDesign at NIFTs.

You will get admission in distance learning course for fashion designing but, there is no scope after completing the course. You can only learn fashion designing when you do it practically and not just by reading the theory.
