CAT is the most important part of the question paper. Start sketching and develop your own style of sketching and coloring. I can not stress this enough. Good drawing skills are very important. How you present/draw your ideas is just as important as the idea itself.Keep reading the newspaper (especially around November-December) It'll help you in GK part of GAT and help you generate better ideas. Most questions in CAT are related to current scenarios. It will be difficult to get in top fashion designing colleges. You need to check with respective colleges for admissions.
You can also try for national institute of design entrance exam. A good score may enhance your chances.

Most colleges offer a means cum merit scholarship. If you follow under a certain income and have good grades you can apply for such scholarships.

You have to do one thing, you have to appear in a competitive examination named as 'NIFT' that is the entrance exam for National Institute of Fashion Technology.

There are some colleges which are offering fashion design courses like NIFT, NID and Pearl Academy. These three are the best colleges in India. You have to clear written test, situation test and interview to get admission in these college. Fashion design course is a four year programme. After completing four year you will be a fashion designer.

The age limit is different for different colleges. You can always apply for a Masters program if you aren't applicable for the undergrad course.
