The eligibility criteria for admission to Direction, Cinematography, Editing, Acting and Feature Film Screenplay Writing in FTII is that the candidates should have a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
For admission to audiography course, the candidates should have a Bachelor's degree with physics as a subject at Sr. Sec (10+2) level.

The FTII's entrance exam consists of 2 sections:
1. General awareness
2. Mental Ability
The general awareness sections consists questions related to Indian History, Indian Economy, Current affairs, famous personalities, general science, National/International Organisations etc
The mental ability test has comprehension and logical reasoning questions.

These institutes have opened in last few years and have maintained to compete with the old schools like FTII as they offer a lot of practical sessions and ensure to provide students the complete knowledge and make them skillful individuals.

Film and Television Institute of India Entrance Examinations are basically conducted to test the candidate on the specific area that he or she has chosen. More over, in the Film and Television Institute of India Entrance Examinations, their will be question from General Knowledge and General Mental Ability.
