The question does not share any information whether the course is a Diploma-Degree-PG or merely an add-on course as MOOC or training. Still, the answer is here based on general perceptions and replying considering the course as Graduation at least.
Government Job Opportunities for a course in Film, Television and 'New Media Production are good.
It is good that the question mentions NEW MEDIA because the largest number of jobs in the Media domain is on the 'INTERNET and WEB' based platforms. When we say NEW MEDIA, we acknowledge that there are fewer Jobs in the traditional media profiles.

It depends on the director. If the director is good and his movies make money and gather golden statues then the studio offer him/her good paycheques. However, if the director is at the start of his long-term career, he's not given that much of freedom with respect to budget and facilities. But if he makes it good, the career lifts off like a rocket.
First-time studio directors generally have to sign for scale, roughly $250k with possible 2nd or 3rd pic options at perhaps 600 and 1 mil. If the director makes a big hit, they renegotiate any options

Direction and documentary production are not opposite domains and can never be. A director is part of the documentary production as well. The director may make informative/educational work, entertaining movies, animations, thrillers, romance or children movies. The direction is the most important thing.
Hence, direction is a comprehensive term whereas documentary production is a part of the main.

A course in direction cannot be done unless you do a Bachelor's Degree in the film making and production domain. It is made clear merely a certificate course cannot make someone a good editor to claim jobs at the best places.
I shall suggest that when a good job with growing possibilities is there one has to take up the assignment because mass media jobs are the best to do when they come to you. Once the hunt starts, it takes time.

Cinematography scope: Media, especially the electronics media has become quite a vast domain of learning as well as jobs today. The considerations of abroad or national are gone because the digital revolution has trespassed the boundaries.
Cinematography has not just remained restricted to films and entertainment anymore. The scope of cinematography is quite big all around. There are projects that are done on a global level and even for a certificate course, the scope remains good. As cinematography is learning the camera its direction and uses, photography -still or motion - hence the career prospects are always there. The course can
