A variety of subjects pertaining to film, television, and related media arts are covered in the FTII JET (Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test) program. Exam questions for the film wing cover current events and general knowledge, with an emphasis on film and visual arts. In addition, it covers film theory, Indian and international cinema, and the fundamentals of sound, editing, and cinematography. Concepts related to television production, writing, and direction are covered in the syllabus for the television branch. As per the official notification, candidates seeking admission into FTII, Pune and SRFTI, Kolkata will have to go through the following process:Step 1: JET Entrance ExamThe first step is the FTII JET exam for which candidates will have to appear in it after receiving their admit cards and qualify it. The written test will be conducted for 2 papers and the time duration will be of three hours. The test will be conducted in offline (pen and paper test) mode. The question paper will be into two parts – MCQ (multiple-choice questions) and Descriptive. Step 2: Audition (for screen Acting) Orientation and InterviewCandidates qualifying in the written test will be further shortlisted for Audition (only for Screen Acting), Orientation and Interview. Step 3: Result declaration (For all other courses except Screen Acting) final joint merit list of FTII & SRFTI will be published. For screen acting, the performance of audition will also be analysed.After joint merit lists, preferences will be obtained from the shortlisted candidates. They will be selected to a particular course in FTII & SRFTI. Counselling may be carried-out offline in Pune/Mumbai/ Kolkata or online.Step 4: Undergo the medical testSelected candidates will be required to undergo Medical Test as per the selection criteria of both institutes.

Durint accepting the seats online, candidates has to opt for any one of the options either ‘Freeze’ or ‘Float’ for the choice of course for subsequent round (s), if any, of JSA 2023 – 24. In case candidate has been allocated seat as per the candidate’s first choice, above option will not be available and the only option available will be Freeze. In such a situation, candidate may either accept and Freeze the offered seat, or may reject the offered seat. Non choosing of Freeze option in this case will be considered as rejection of the offered seat and the candidate will not be considered for seat allocation in the further rounds, if any.Freeze option - This option means that candidate accepts the offered seat and it indicates that they are satisfied with the allocated course and they don't want to participate in further rounds of seat allocation.Float option -  This option means that candidate accepts the offered seat and it indicates that, their admission to a course of higher preference in same or other Institute is offered in subsequent rounds of seat allocation, the candidate will accept it. Else,  the candidate will continue with the currently accepted course. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of JSA 2023 – 24, if it is held.

As per the admission process of JET exam, candidates first need to quaify in teh FTII JETe exam and subsequent rounds of the Orientation / Interview process. On the basis of performance in JET, the list of candidates shortlisted for the next level of selection will be made available on the website of the Institute. The institute will send interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly. Students final selection will be based on their JET scores, and performance in the orientation & interviews rounds. Every year, the exam is given in an offline format. In order to prepare for the exam, candidates can review the FTII JET 2024 exam pattern prior to registration. The FTII JET 2024 exam is a three-hour written test with two papers. Because of its difficulty, not every student can pass the FTII JET Entrance Exam. To pass the FTII JET Entrance Exam, students need to prepare extensively and have a solid plan in place. The minimal final cut-off scores to be eligible for admission to FTII are 50% for the general category; the minimum passing scores for the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test vary.For the OBC NCL category, 45 percent.
