GATE Application Process

A candidate will most likely be allotted a centre in the examination city of his or her first choice. Only in cases where there are too many candidates opting for a certain city as their first choice, the other two choices become relevant. That is, candidates will have to choose the GATE exam cities for 2024 during the application process. The exam conducting authority will also allow the candidates to make changes to the earlier selected exam centres during the correction period without paying any additional fee. The GATE 2024 application form will be available on the IISc Bangalore official website. The exam is expected to be held in February 2024. The registration window will open in August 2023 (tentatively) for the GATE 2024 exam. It is to be noted that the candidates of choice modification is free of cost and did not required to pay any fee for it, but the change of in some other details would cost students a fee as mentioned below:
Change in choice of examination cities: Free of cost
Change of existing paper: 500
Add a second paper (from given combinations concerning the primary paper): 500 plus a suitable amount per paper for the candidates category
Change of gender to female: 500
Change of gender from female to any other gender: 500+850 = 1350
Change of category to SC/ST: 500
Change of category from SC/ST to any other: 500 + 850 - 1350
Change from Non-PwD to PwD: 500
Change from PwD to Non-PwD: 500 + 850 = 1350
Any other change in category (not mentioned above): 500

Check below for the documents needed to be uploaded to complete the GATE 2024 registration process:
- A high-quality image of a candidate's photograph conforming to the specified requirements (File size should be between 2KB and 200KB)
- Good quality image of candidate's signature conforming to the specified requirements (File size should be between 2KB and 150KB)
- Scanned copy of the Eligibility Certificate in pdf format (Degree Certificate or Provisional Certificate or Certificate from the Head of the Department/ Institute (format specified in Appendix A of the Information Brochure) (File size should be between 10KB and 300KB)
- Scanned copy of Category (SC/ST) Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format (File size should be between 10KB and 300KB)
- Scanned copy of PwD Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format (File size should be between 10KB and 300KB)
- Scanned copy of Dyslexic Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format (File size should be between 10KB and 300KB)
- Details of the valid Identity Document* (ID) (The same ID, in original, should be carried to the examination hall)
- Net-banking/debit card/credit card details for fee payment

Check below for the details required to fill out the GATE 2024 application form: - Personal information should be required to be filled in, including name, date of birth, personal mobile number, parents' name, parents' mobile number, etc. It is to be noted that the name of the candidate in the application form must be the same as that in the qualifying degree Certificate (or) the Certificate issued by the Head of the Department or Institute in which the candidate is pursuing his/her study. The GATE 2024 scorecard will be issued as per the name entered in the application form. Candidates will be required to log in again whenever they can get back online to check their payment status on the GOAPS website. If the payment is received, candidates can print their application form. If the payment was not received by GATE then he or she can also check the status of the transaction from the bank account. If the fee amount has been debited from his or her bank account but GOAPS does not acknowledge any fee payment, then the money will be credited back to their account. However, this may take a week or more after the closure of the application process. In such a situation, a candidate may initiate a fresh payment on GOAPS without waiting for the money to be credited back to the account. After completely filling out the GATE 2023 application form and submitting all the details, you will have to digitally sign and accept the GATE declaration, through which a candidate accepts that all the information provided by a candidate is true. If the declaration is not accepted, it may lead to the rejection of the application. If a candidate wants to check the GATE application status, he or she can log in to the GOAPS. Candidates need to enter their enrollment ID and password to check the application status. Also, "under scrutiny" or "under process' means that the application is still being scrutinised. While filling out the GATE application form, if a power cut or internet connection fails during the submission of the application process, the candidate has to get back online to the GATE 2024 website. That means a candidate has to log in again to the GOAPS website and continue the application process. GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is conducted annually. It will be held for 29 papers in February 2024 (tentatively). It will be an online exam.
