GATE Counselling

The GATE 2025 counselling will start after the declaration of the GATE results, in the third week of March 2025. Candidates who have qualified the GATE exam are eligible for the counselling. There are two modes of counselling - CCMT and COAP. Candidates who are seeking admission at IITs must register at COAP portal for counselling. On the other hand, candidates who are seeking admission to NITs and IIITs need to participate in CCMT counselling. Candidates will be required to bring the below mentioned documents for the document verification process during the reporting at RC. - Photo ID proof. - Provisional seat allotment letter. - Self-Attested Copy of GATE Score Card (2023 or 2024 or 2025). - Original Birth Certificate issued by competent authority/Class X (High School) Board Certificate as proof of date of birth. - Class 12 marks sheet. - Mark sheets of qualifying examination (all semesters). - Degree/Provisional Certificate. - Category Certificate (if applicable). - Three Passport size coloured photograph. - Seat acceptance fee proof. - Printout of the Registration form & locked choices. - Migration Certificate- Transfer Certificate- Original Conduct Certificate from the Head of the institution last attended. - An original Course completion Certificate from the Head of the University/Institute in case the result is awaited. - One set of self-attested photocopies of all the original documents. After taking the GATE Exam candidates can check their results and according to the results, they can apply to a particular college. The merit list of each college is released on the official website of the college and after that candidates can apply for counselling by paying the fees. The fee at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology Gorakhpur is INR 1,000 for counseling which is nonrefundable. After counseling candidates can select their specializations. After selecting the specializations candidates can fill out the admission form and can pay their fees at the official website to secure their admission to the college.

On allotment of a seat and payment of the seat acceptance fee, candidates have to upload the required documents on the official website. Candidates are required to exercise one of the following willingness when they report to the RC:
Floating: If they wish to be considered in the next round for all of their higher preferred choices. Sliding: If they wish to be considered in the next round for their higher preferred choices only within the institute allotted to them. Freezing: If they are satisfied with the currently allotted seat and not interested in their higher preferred choices in the subsequent round. There are a total of three main rounds of seat allotment in the CCMT. The authority will also conduct two special rounds of CCMT counselling. CCMT is Centralized Counseling for M.Tech/MArch/Plan/MDes. It is a common platform for candidates to apply for M.Tech/MArch/Plan programmes in all National Institutes of Technology (NITs), IIEST Shibpur, eight IIITs, the University of Hyderabad, and many more colleges. Candidates seeking admission to the CCMT participating institutes will be allocated seats based on their choices for college and course and their GATE rank. The merit list for seal allocation will be prepared based on the GATE scores. There may be some cases where two or more candidates score the same marks; in such cases, the following will be considered:
- In the case of the same year's GATE qualification, preference will be given to the candidate who has scored higher GATE marks out of 100. - If GATE marks are out of 100 and the year of passing GATE for two candidates is the same, then preference will be based on the All India Rank (AIR). - If the marks out of 100, years of passing the GATE and AIR are the same, then the Date of Birth will be considered. The elder candidate will be given preference. - If even the Date of Birth is the same, then the rank will be decided on the basis of random number generation. - Seat allotment is based on the Merit list and availability of seats as per filled Choices according to the Government of India (GoI) Reservation norms.
