NIFT conducts its own entrance exam which happens in two stages:
1. General Ability Test (GAT)-This exam comprises 4 sections namely Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, English Language Comprehension and General Knowledge.
2. Creative Ability Test CAT This test is administered to judge the intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative use of colour & illustration skills. Both the tests are important and mandatory to attend. Well, it is clearly mentioned in the Eligibility Criteria of GATE that only the candidates with following degree can appear for GATE for pursuing M.Tech.
Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e. g. AMIE by IE (I), AMICE (I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE IAS equivalent to B.E. /B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.
