You well know that Engineer at a reputed PSU have more powers in comparison with the Bank PO. Not only power but the money too. Your life would become still and monotonous if you go for Bank PO while in the other case, you never know what you explore in the process.

B.Tech-M.Tech is better option in comparison to B.Sc MCA because it will lead to higher qualification as M.Tech is a higher degree in comparison to MCA. Secondly M.Tech will make you a specialist engineer. Thirdly you can also chose MBA after B.Tech for a better career.

Start preparing for GATE after the 5th semester.
First of all, give 6 months for the self-preparation.
Then join any coaching institution in the 7th semester.

There is nothing like that but it is suggested that you start it in 3 years so that you can continue reading it for 2 years. This will obviously fetch you a good result.

The best time to start preparing for GATE EXAM is after finishing schooling. It is preferable to start getting coached for GATE once you get admitted to college, because during college days most of the GATE syllabus is covered with college syllabus and again it will give you a clear cut concepts on subjects, it is preferable to get coached every day for about one hour, The main thing in GATE is nothing should be forcefully remembered. We should understand the concept clearly. It is advisable to concentrate more on core subjects in a sequential order. So that one can understand the concepts well and good.

First, you join good institute near you like TIME, IMS, Career Launcher, etc. So that you get a better idea of how to solve Questions Papers, Basics, Tricks, etc.
But just joining an institute is not okay.
You have to work hard, keep practising maths problems, logical reasoning, English grammar and all.
As you said, you are in the 2nd year so first, you have to focus on your graduation that is also important, start preparing for CAT in last year or I would advise you to after B.gain 1-2 years of work experience after B.Tech and then go for MBA as it would be better for your admission and placements.
Best of luck.
