It will be depend on GATE score and cut off marks in qualifying degree and some time written test or/and interview, which varies from institute to institute.

First of all, BIT-Kolkata extension centre doesn't offer M.Tech and for getting admission in the main campus in M.Tech, you will need a valid GATE score.

More than 350 generally, but it depends upon branches, category, and institute. If your GATE score is more than 300, you can apply for it.

No. Its no at all compulsory. But if you are thinking to do Masters in India, then GATE. Is the best. Even if you spend a year in preparation, no problem, go for GATE. With out GATE.
1. Career aspect: First thing you can't get into well reputed institutes like IITs, NITs, and some government colleges. When you done with you are M.Tech, the college from where you have done your Masters is very important. It matters a lot in initial stages of your career. Yes, sure in some of the colleges to do PG in automotive technology game score is mandatory but on the other hand, by clearing their private examination of certain institute you can do PG in automotive technology there.

For any candidate to be eligible for admission, he/she must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology or master's degree in appropriate Sciences with valid score in GATE or equivalent national level examination. IISC Bangalore will offer admission to full-time M.Tech courses for the academic year 2020-2022.

No worry, if you did not given GATE examination or have low score in examination
Colleges have arranged there examination for M.Tech civil engineering. These colleges had been listed below with dates -
1. IIIT Hyderabad
Entrance exam name and date : PGEE and 26.04.2020
2. LPU Phagwara :
Entrance exam name and date LPU NEST and 10 April to 25 April 2020
3. Vellore institute of Technology
Entrance exam name and date VITMEE First week of June 2020
4. GGSIPU Delhi
Entrance exam name and date IPU CET 3rd week of March.
