Yes, Kerala University offers M.Tech admissions based on merit. For merit-based admissions, students are required to apply for sponsored seats. Such candidates do not require to take GATE or any other entrance test. They are offered admissions based on marks scored in bachelor's degree, interviews conducted by the DTE, and work experience.

Failure to provide the OBC NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) category certificate while undergoing the GATE counseling may make you ineligible for all the reservation benefits pertaining to the OBC NCL category. This will imply that you might fall into the General category, thus reducing your chances of acquiring a seat in your favorite program, especially when highly competitive institutes are concerned. Failure to submit the certificate on time will also lead to disqualification or rejection of your application. You may lose an opportunity to get admission which is specifically reserved for OBC NCL candidates.

Generally, the cutoff for M.Tech programs is influenced by factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of seats, and the category of the applicant (General, OBC, SC, ST). Typically, the cutoff for popular engineering branches like Computer Science, Electronics, and Mechanical tends to be higher compared to other branches. For a rough estimate, candidates should aim to secure a score that is higher than the previous year's cutoff to increase their chances of admission. Best of luck with your GATE
